Permanent role, Southend-on-Sea, Salary £26,000 - £30,000 dependant on experience

Reference: Senior_QC_Ins_051022

The Senior Quality Control Inspector is responsible for all aspects of parts quality before releasing to production.  You will be joining as a senior team member working alongside our existing highly experienced senior and one other assistant inspector. You will  work alongside and report directly to the Quality Control Co-ordinator, and occasionally the Parts, Supplier, and Design Co-ordinators. This is a pro-active role working with many teammates at Rega which demands an eye for detail and exceptional communication skills.

You will be responsible for the inspection of incoming parts using all necessary inspection equipment (provided) against technical drawings and working closely with all departments and relevant co-ordinators. The inspection of parts will include dimensional and cosmetic checks, referring to golden samples held in department. It is essential that the correct quality control documents are filled in accurately, recorded and saved on file for traceability of inspection processes and part history.

  • Knowledge of and ability to use and program a CMM is advantageous. Training can be given but preference for candidates with experience.
  • Work closely with the design team to understand key parts and their critical dimensions.
  • Very important to understand the Rega strategy of carrying out QC, it is the aim to use everything we can, failing inspection will always have consequences for Rega and supplier. Having an appreciation and understanding of all the ‘grey’ areas that we encounter not just the ‘black and white’ pass/fail.
  • Working with the Supplier Co-ordinator to understand different suppliers and their position within Rega’s overall Strategy. It is critical that a rejection situation does not affect the overall relationship issue with a critical supplier.
  • Working with Design, production and suppliers to understand the manufacturing processes and how the parts are designed to be used.
  • You will also be required to visit our key suppliers occasionally to discuss quality issues, this does involve some long journeys across the country but is a crucial part of the job. It is also a great opportunity to see and understand the different manufacturing processes.
  • Communicating with the suppliers is paramount to ensure the fault does not continue. This is likely to need discussions with other members of the Rega team first. Build and understand history of problematic parts and suppliers which can be applied when new deliveries are received.
  • Able to produce NCR’s and supply detailed reports to suppliers on faults found.
  • Ensuring all reject parts are correctly documented in a timely manner. Contribute towards and maintain first off, parts library and drawings for all parts in QC
  • Ensuring correct stock movements of parts on ‘Factory Master ‘(FM) MRP system, through QC department and into Warehouse and/or departments, training will be given.
  • Inspected parts to be clearly labelled before leaving the QC department.
  • Work and be understanding/empathetic of production teams’ issues, feeding back to QC Co-ordinator and design team where necessary, if parts and processes can be improved. Being clear with production about agreed and acceptable quality levels.
