A short history
.
The first Rega turntables built during the 70's carried a Rega designed
Japanese built 'S' shaped tonearm called the R200. By 1983 the time had
come for Rega to design and build its own tonearm and so the world famous
RB300 (Rega Britain) was born. The high pressure
die-cast silicon alloy tube alone took two years to develop alongside
the UK's largest die-cast company. The work and our casting subsequently
won us an "international casting award" from America for what
is still considered today to be a technically impossible casting. See
if you can find one the same! Since its conception we have sold over 400,000
of the now legendary RB300 derived tonearm.
RB100 Tonearm

Entry level it may be but there is nothing entry level about the RB100's
performance. Pound for pound the best value for money performance tonearm
available on the market. It uses Rega's high rigidity low friction bearing
design philosophies alongside the rigid custom arm tube assembly and the
three point fixing based on the mounting system of our flagship tonearm
the RB1000. You cannot fail to be impressed by the performance achieved
at this price point.
RB251 Tonearm

For those still on
a budget looking for a classically engineered Rega tonearm the RB251 will
offer astonishing performance for its price. An enhanced evolution of
the famous RB250 which was supplied as standard on the Planar 2 and P2
turntable. Using hand selected high quality vertical and horizontal bearings
it is the first in the Rega range using our die-cast tube and uses the
three point fixing technique based on the mounting design system of our
flagship tonearm the RB1000.
This system reduces stress on the plinth and tonearm which offers greater
stability though the arm. All of which translates into more music for
you the listener.
RB301 Tonearm

Replacing what was probably the most famous tonearm in the world the legendary
RB300 was always going to be a challenge. The new RB301 uses the highest
quality bearings available (usually found in ships navigational equipment)
both bearings vertical and horizontal are hand selected to find a perfect
match with each spindle. It uses the classic Rega die-cast arm tube and
the new three point fixing based on the mounting system of our flagship
tonearm the RB1000, a high performance low capacitance arm lead and plugs
complete this amazing product which all combine to offer unrivaled performance
for the money.
For those who have auditioned the new RB301 will know this multi award
winning product will take you to the next level on musical performance
with any piece of vinyl you decide to present it with.
RB700 Tonearm

Fitted as standard
on our P5 and P7 turntables the RB700 offers exceptional performance and
build quality.
The aluminium tube has been specially coated in a unique finish whilst
remaining low mass. The tonearm assembly is concentrated around precision,
hardened stainless steel and miniature ball races of the highest quality.
The bearings fit on to ground shafts and into the tonearm using interference
fits. This means that no adhesive is required and therefore none of the
associated (component - adhesive - component) losses in rigidity prevail.
It is fitted to the plinth by a 3-point fixing which is CNC machined out
of a single solid block of Stainless steel. This provides the strongest
most rigid base structure possible for the tonearm and causes less stress
on the plinth and the bearing housing, and therefore the least possible
resonance.
The RB700 tonearm is designed to make cartridges work harder, maximising
the cantilever acceleration and travel as much as possible with the utmost
accuracy within the cartridge body thus providing new levels of information.
RB1000

The award winning
RB1000 takes almost twenty times longer to produce than an RB301. At present
there are only two highly experienced technicians that can build this
exotic tonearm.
A "blue printing"
parts and assembly process is used resulting in zero tolerance engineered
assemblies offering ultimate performance.
The bearings fit on

that no adhesive is required and therefore none of the associated (component

The RB1000 carries
more technological changes over previous Rega tonearms than any other
Rega tonearm produced during the last twenty years! Key areas of improvement
can be found in the bearing assemblies, wiring and materials used. We
have worked to redistribute and reduce mass in areas of the tonearm where
mass is critical to performance. The easiest place to see these changes
in evidence would be the polished aluminium arm tube. It has no coatings
of any type.
The changes made have resulted in a tonearm with extremely high structural
rigidity, combining ultra low friction movement together with incredible
stability. These attributes will make any cartridge mounted on this tonearm
work harder than they have ever worked before. Do not be surprised if
the first time you listen to familiar music, you hear detail that you
have not heard before.
